amfAR gala kicks off New York Fashion Week: Julianne Moore looks younger than Lohan

As well as Lohan, we have Julianne Moore in Roberto Cavalli, twice Lohan's age, equally red headed, yet one hundred times more beautiful. In fact, the more 'mature' ladies completely trump the juniors, with Sarah Jessica Parker showing the common sense to turn up in a Theyskens Theory jacket over her Oscar de la Renta gown and Heidi Klum (yeah, we know 38 isn't a exactly old) wearing another Cavalli number (AND WEDDING RING). Actually, Cavalli pretty much opened shop for the entire event, with Elizabeth Hurley, Cindy Crawford and Jennifer Hudson also in his frocks.

The week in fashion: HM style round-up, 27 January 2012

Facing the seemingly not actually that tough challenge of looking decent whilst surrounded by Parisians and $20,000 dresses, we have Cameron Diaz, Alice Dellal, Leigh Lezark, Bar Refaeli, Olivia Palermo, Diane Kruger as well as local girls Vanessa Paradis and Clemence Poesy.

Probably slightly tougher was the conundrum thrown up by the snowy Sundance Film Festival - how do you get away with hiding thermals under red carpet dresses? Kate Bosworth, Cara Delevingne, Kirsten Dunst, Emily Bunt and Lake Bell seemed to managed very well.

Alexa Chung lands Superga job, Sienna Miller ditches Twenty8Twelve job

Now, we're not sure why Miller left her position as creative director at Twenty8Twelve, but it's presumably for other horizons such as acting. Hahaha. As if, it's probably for parenthood. Meanwhile, Chung has had a sort of promotion, climbing up from simply modelling for Superga to actually designing for them. See? It goes to show that hard work and over-time always pays off eventually.

In the last week, Rooney's being earning flair miles around Europe in Louis Vuitton (black cocktail dress), Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci (the khaki jacket), Rodarte (pale gown), Michael Kors (black cut out gown) and Miu Miu (flared skirt and bra top). Forget an Oscar statuette, she deserves a fashion medal - if only for posing on the red carpet when the rest of us are still prodding our bellies and pretending it's just trapped wind.

Make it work, Project Runway!

Alexa Chung talks to Fallon about 24 Hour Catwalk, Project Runway All Stars on tonight

As previously mentioned, the regular Project Runway is taking a break whilst spin-off All Stars sits in its place. The bad news is that Tim Gunn (and the entire judging panel) will be absent, but the good news is that Mondo's coming back, yeeeeah. Obviously you can't watch it unless you're in America, so we'll just have to assume that we all are, right? Right.

Sneak peak at Alexa Chung's 24 Hour Catwalk, obv looks like a less good Project Runway

What d'ya think? Apart from being the most ridiculously drawn out promo ever, we can probably conclude that we'll most likely watch it, if only because we're gluttons for punishment who also happen to have a keen interest in Chung's wardrobe, which, FYI seems quite varied considering the length of the show. Imagine if it actually was real time? How sick would that be.

It goes out on 10 Jan, but in the meantime you can look at some pics of Chung and chum at a Burberry launch in Paris last night. Fashiony fashion.

Stellar performance

Stella McCartney turns on her Xmas lights, Eddy Monsoon, Alexa Chung and Kate Moss watch

To be honest, not everyone looked miserable, it was largely just Alexa Chung. She probably got cornered by Bob Geldof on the way in - he's always a cheery one at Christmas. Elsewhere, there was Kate Moss and her daughter, Sharlene Splithairy, Emma Bunton, Kelly Holmes, Macca and his new bride, Mariella Frostrup and Eddy Monsoon reminding us to set the digibox for Ab Fab on the 25th. Although not to be too massively hopeful about enjoying it - the chance of Chung smiling is probably more likely.
