Charming Essex/Irish boy Dermot is known for being something of a sex symbol, as much as he is for deflecting the London womanising celebrity circuit. Starting as a runner, he presented Big Brother sister (or brother?) show where his laidback, personable and slightly flirty manner led to gigs on the X Factor and a show on Radio 2. The music on this show, as is expected from the station, is somewhere around the inoffensive meeting point of indie and pop and such as Lily Allen. O'Leary won a Sony award for the show in 2008. Despite vote fixing speculation on the X Factor, O'Leary remains a popular personality on the programme. The fact that he is made to awkwardly hugs deranged auditionees in their thousands almost makes you feel sorry for him.
