"I think a black man, purple man, Martian man could run the country - whatever, man, as long as he does right by the people." So said Dizzee Rascal, before telling Jeremy Paxman that he’d quite like to run for prime minister himself. The brightest star of East London’s grime rap scene, Dizzee Rascal - real name Dylan Mills - grew up on a rough council estate and attended a local comprehensive where a music teacher encouraged his curiosity for the subject. He won a Mercury Prize for his debut album, Boy In Da Corner, released two more critically acclaimed albums, but had to give up eventually and cosy up to Calvin Harris to get an amazing, cheesy number one with 'Dance Wiv Me'. Has since had number ones with 'Bonkers', 'Holiday', 'Dirty Disco' and 'Shout', the world cup song he did with James Corden. His Brit award for best British male in 2010 cemented him as a truly mainstream rapper.
