A brief storm of attention, mainly from 13-year-old girls, surrounded Quigg in late 2008 when he reached the final of the X-Factor. The sprout-faced cherub wowed the judges with his Irish charm and pure pop appeal, singing tried and tested songs by the likes of Michael Jackson and Boyzone. The real story came, however, in the blossoming of a terribly sweet relationship with fellow contestant, the bare-foot Diana Vickers. Just how genuine the romance was will never be known as it faded almost a quickly his career. His debut single peaked at number 96 in the charts.
