The Muppets - they're bringing wocka back

The Muppets is the first felt & fur feature film to gain a theatrical release since 1999’s patchy Muppets From Space. And against all the odds it’s also the funniest Muppets film to date. Genuinely, properly, laugh-until-you-cry funny.

What Nicolas Stoller and co-writer and co-star Jason Segel have scripted is a film which perfectly balances big, stupid, slapstick laughs for kids and affectionate, acutely observed self-referential gags for grownups.

Everyone in Hollywood goes to the LACMA party to honour Clint Eastwood & John Baldessari

As well as honouring Baldessari, the LACMA paid tribute to Clint Eastwood. We're not completely sure what the whole event was about but it was held at a museum, so probably something to do with fundraising - look, all the girls above bought their purses except for Evan Rachel Wood. Crafty Evan, there's no persuading her to hand over her cash. Not when she's got it hidden in her knickers.

Hollywood types queue up to meet Kate and William at BAFTA Brits To Watch party

The BAFTA Brits to Watch party was apparently an initiative to put UK rising talent in the spotlight. Too bad that the royals turned up and stole all attention from the newcomers really, although Prince William is president of the academy so we're sure he gave an inspiring pep talk about all his experience in the film industry *tumbleweeds roll by*

Elsewhere we have another straw haired, empty headed blonde in the form of Paris Hilton, who was at the 125cc race at the Montmelo circuit. No need for the leathers Paris, we already know what an easy rider you are. At least she's familiar with helmets.

American Idol finale: Jack Black, Bono, Gordon Ramsay and a terracotta Tom Jones

Anyway, some guy called Scotty McCreery won the whole shebang, meaning he's now in for at least one year of fame, followed by an entire lifetime of trying to build some sort of musical credibility.

Joining Scotty at the finale were Jack Black, Bono, Gordon Ramsay, Janice Dickinson, Jennifer Lopez, Randy Jackson, The Edge and a very brown Tom Jones. If we had to single anyone out for ridicule we'd probably go for Janice Dickinson. Ha ha. Awful woman.

Kung Fu Panda 2 premiere in LA, what the hell is going on with Brad Pitt's trousers?

Is it written into his contract that all red carpet appearances must feature a roly poly and comedy face? Hilarious, innit?

Also at the prem, we have Jean Claude Van Damme reminding everyone who he is on his hat, Sally from Mad Men all growd up, Tom Cruise's first wife Mimi Rogers, Seth Rogan and Danny McBride and Lucy Liu.

The Cannes Film Festival 2011: day 3 round-up with Kung Fu Panda 2 and other artsy stuff

Still, the day three round-up is a mixed offering... We've got Angelina Jolie and Jack black promoting Kung Fu Panda 2, three years after the latter gaffed that a tight-lipped Jolie was pregnant on the same red carpet. She hates him. So do we (he ruined the Beastie Boys film).

Moving on to the thespy crowd, we've got the the premiere of Lynne Ramsey's We Need To Talk About Kevin with the director herself, John C. Reilly, Tilda Swinton and Jonathan Ross.
