No-one gave a stuff about Jack Tweed until he was found hanging out with Jade Goody (at the time a pilloried, flabby, chav that we all hated). He was involved in Celebrity Big Brother's Shilpa gate, caught in between Jade's finest moment and her mother's flappy armed screaming. No-one gave a stuff about him after that.

Then Jade got ill and Jack was her 'rock'. As Jade got more poorly and everyone realised she wasn't going to get better, Jack was given a brief respite, despite being sent to jail for smashing a golf club over a teenagers head and trying to strangle a taxi driver.

Jade died and everyone left Jack alone to grieve. Instead of grieving Jack got stuck into booze and "whatnot" and ended up in court on charges of rape, which he was later cleared of.
