Hudson has the dubious honour of the being the only person to have gone from being on reality TV to winning an Oscar. The curvy warbler first came to attention as a finalist in the 2004 series of American Idol where she performed vocal gymnastics over saccharine tracks such as Imagine and The Circle of Life. After this she scored a role in Dreamgirls alongside bona fide stars Beyonce, Jamie Foxx and Eddie Murphy and an Oscar for this part. Playing Carrie Bradshaw's assistant in the SATC film showed that singing, rather than acting, is probably where her strengths lie.
