Metcalfe's performance as teenage gardener John Rowland in Desperate Housewives is notable because he had no shirt on in almost every scene in which he appeared. The plot of the first season saw the impressively-chested hunk have a steamy affair with married Gabrielle, played by Eva Longoria. He was clearly the bimbo of the show and the treatment of his character was downright sexist and one-dimensional. Not that Metcalfe seemed to mind - going on to film roles and a relationship with Irish Girls Aloud beauty Nadine Coyle.
