Joe won the hearts of middle-aged women across the country when he auditioned for the X Factor - all wishing they could take home and mother the vulnerable, baby-faced Geordie lad. However, Joe also had an impressive voice, and after pitch-perfect performances week in-week out, was finally announced as the winner of the talent contest.

Hailing from South Shields, Joe made every man in the UK rage with envy as he formed a strong bond with his neighbour and mentor, Cheryl Cole. Unfortunately for Joe, his debut single - an impeccable cover of Miley Cyrus' 'The Climb' - didn't live up to the usual X Factor standards and was beaten to the Christmas number one by Rage Against The Machine after some big bullies started a nasty internet campaign.

He came out in 2010, but even with the publicity from that he still seems to have followed the career paths of Steve Brookstein, Shayne Ward and Leon Jackson with his latest single only reaching number 68.
