John Galliano was head designer at Dior from 1997 until March 2011. People loved him. His work was celebrated across the globe. He was hailed as a visionary. He did things to dresses that most men wouldn't want their families to know about.

Unfortunately, on one cold winter night in Paris in late December 2010, while drinking heavily and talking to a pair of women he didn't know, he popped out a tiny little rascist blart, a blart which then rapidly turned into a steaming torrent of anti-semitic abuse, including an open declaration that he loved Hitler, a definite no-no at most dinner parties these days.

The net result of all this was that his famous friends almost universally distanced themselves from him and he was fired from his position at Dior.

Funnily enough, it seems John simply chose the wrong hideous scumbag to idolise, especially since most of those stars who declared him 'morally bankrupt' had happily pledged their support to free convicted paedophile Roman Polanski only a few years earlier. Obviously not the same by any means, but there's a certain level of hypocrisy there.
