Pirates of the Caribbean fella to direct Sondheim's Into The Woods for Disney

Into the Woods has had a frustrating relationship with Hollywood. Early on there were tantalizing reports of pre-production on a version starring Meryl Streep as The Witch, made in collaboration with Jim Henson’s Creature Shop. But sadly nothing came of it.

In 1994 there was a reading of a script at director Penny ‘Big’ Marshall’s house, with an impressive role call including Robin Williams, Goldie Hawn and Cher. I know, right?

Talking to RadarOline.com, a source said:

"People around him are worried about how Johnny is doing because he and Vanessa seem so fractured right now. Johnny isn't handling anything well right now.

"Johnny has started reaching out to lawyers, probably to quietly discuss how to get out of the relationship. They're not married but they've been together for years and have kids together so it isn't as easy as just breaking up."

It turns out that it's to do with money. Yeah, money. Who would have guessed? According to a recent survey by Forbes (the magazine, not a raffishly named friend of ours) it seems that if you pay shitty actors to do a shitty job on a film based on magic and sorcery, then you're almost certain to make a lot more money from the final product than you paid them to stumble through it.

The Rum Diary premiere: Johnny Depp, Amber Heard and Hugh Hefner

Still, having said that, here are the pictures from the premiere, and it's not exactly what you'd call star studded. We've got Johnny Depp, Aaron Eckhart, Amber Heard, Old Man Time, his son Marston Hefner and two of their 'friends'. Yup. That's it. Aside from the film's director Bruce Robinson and his daughter Lily, who's either been caught mid blink or is heavily sedated. It is, of course, our moral and professional obligation to say the latter.

It's probably for the best that JOHNNY backtracked on the whole 'being photographed is like being raped' thing, but we can sort of see what he was trying to get at after listening to Mr 'DON'T TOUCH ME' Pap. We're only posting this because that guy comes across as a bigger fool than the tumbling JOHNNY.

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why JOHNNY and his family live in France.

Also, if you're interested, here's an interview Hunter S. Thompson did with Keith Richards. It's a bit weird as Johnny Depp seems to base all his wacky onscreen personalities on one of the two and looks it looks like Rum Diary is going to be the same again. Having said that, only about 20 percent of the interview actually makes any sense. Starts at 00.11 by the way...
