Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World trailer with Steve Carell and Keira Knightley

Hmmm, we think not, we're afraid, judging by the trailer for Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World anyway. Out this summer, it seems to be Deep Impact meets National Lampoon's Vacation meets The 40 Year Old Virgin meets A Very British Brit Film. It also stars Gil Grissom and Seth Cohen, who we would be very sad to see the last of if the world ended, although Knightley's weeping, not so much :(

Keira Knightley does GQ shoot, talks about being spanked some more

Surprisingly, she almost turned down the role because she was worried about it being risque, telling the interviewer:

"I said [to director David Cronenberg], 'I love you, I love the script. But I don’t think it’s something I can do, so I might have to turn it down'.

"Once he said he didn’t want it to be sexy or voyeuristic, and as soon as I got my head around the S&M mentality, I said, 'Okay, let’s do it'."

National Board of Review 2012: Clooney wins, Knightley cries on the bathroom floor

Poor old Knightley got all dressed up in a lovely Nina Ricci frock but then didn't win anything, which is a bit worrying since she'd previously revealed in an interview that criticism sometimes makes her "sit on the bathroom floor and burst into tears" - not when there's a queue behind you, Knightley - Helen Mirren doesn't like to wait.

Keira Knightley announces she'd like to do more comedies, ROFL

Talking to Hit Fix about her role alongside Steve Carell in Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, she said:

"I did do a comedy over the summer, because I thought, 'Jesus, this is just going from dark to darker to darkest, I need to lighten up a bit.'

"I told a friend, 'Don't worry, it's much lighter,' and then when she asked me what it's about, I had to say, well, the end of the world! Maybe the apocalypse is as light as I can go right now."

The red carpet has been rolling through many occasions this week - the Q Awards, for instance, brought out Jessie J in a unitard while the Hollywood Awards had Michelle Williams in a Nina Ricci gown. The latter obviously wins, but kudos to the former for her speedy fringe-growning out skills.

London Film Festival 2011: Knightley, Fassbender and Mortensen at Dangerous Method prem

The film follows the relationship between Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud as they gave birth to psychoanalysis.

Talking about the spanking scenes, Knightley, who plays plays real-life psychoanalyst Sabina Spielrein, said:

"I actually said to him [Fassbender] before we shot the spanking scenes, 'If you touch me I will kill you' and he did remind me that I was tied to a bed at the time and really I shouldn't be making any threats.

"The film is about so much more than S&M but [those scenes] weren't particularly easy."

Toronto is in Canada, FACT!

Toronto Film Festival 2011: lots of people going to premieres.

The premiere of Pearl Jam Twenty sees Eddie Vedder and Chris Cornell bothwearing shades, even though we just Googled what the weather in Toronto is like, and it's all cloudy and cold. Well, well, well.

Brangelina pose together outside the premiere of Brad's new film Moneyball, which was also attended by Anna Faris, Jonah Hill and Spike Jonze. Meanwhile, George Clooney, Ryan Gosling, and Clooney's new squeeze Stacey Keibler attended the Ides of March premiere.

Venice Film Festival 2011: weekend round-up with Knightley, Paltrow and Winslet

About Contagion; it stars Paltrow and Jude Law, which has got everyone chatting about it being a Talented Mr Ripley reunion, conveniently forgetting that dreadful Sky Captain film. Tsk, not in our minds.
