Mainly because it means we can creep up behind whichever silly celebrity's feeling brave today and surreptitiously put our boot in as well, albeit under the guise of 'fair and balanced reporting'. Ha ha. Balanced reporting. Whatever next.

Anyway, back to Kym, who's recent brainwave has led her to tell the world that she's sick of the Daily Mail website, especially all the commenters there, many whom insist on saying awful, nasty, hurtful, partially true things about her.

Walking, riding and being famous

Out in London last night: Kate Moss, the X Factor lot, Kerry Katona and Russell Grant

Walking? Janine from EastEnders was doing that brilliantly (along with a man we suspect to be Matt Berry) Riding a bike? Vivienne Westwood had that well covered. Leaving your house? Gwen Stefani excelled. Wearing clothes that make you look like you were dressed by the special class at a local playgroup? Geri and Fearne had that down to a tee.

Also, Russell Grant wearing a Mexican denim poncho, Nicola Roberts performing at Carphone warehouse and Jamie Hince smoking a cigarette.

Manchester United Annual Player of the Year Awards, Ryan Giggs fails to score

... we've also got Mick Mucknall supporting little bro Paul Scholes, who, according to Sir Alex, might soon be doing his last dribble with Giggsy. Talking at the event, the manager explained:

"We have Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes coming towards the end of their careers, Gary Neville has already retired and Edwin van der Sar is retiring, so there are holes we want to plug up in terms of the safety and security of the team for the next few years."

Man United - always thinking about plugging holes...

United for Unicef gala: footballers spend night with Hollyoaks cast, no-one surprised

Well as you may have guessed from the rambling intro, there was a football(ish) event last night, the United for Unicef gala dinner, which as the name suggests, was an event to raise money for Unicef, hosted by James Nesbitt at Old Trafford. All the stars were there, including Ryan Giggs, a player who established himself as a left-winger during the 1990s and continued well into the 2000s, but in recent times has increasingly been used in a deeper playmaking role.

Hollyoaks' summer ball, Gemma Merna shows her talent(s)

Anyway, the Hollyoaks summer ball was to raise money for charity, so we can't be too honest about it. The cast all performed a 'musical extravaganza' for the crowd, before drinking heavily and then trying to produce some little cast members in the local pub car park. Possibly (probably).

Celebrity Big Brother 2010 - first look at the house

And apparently 'Hell Awaits' in the Big Brother house for the celebrity contestants, so far rumoured as Lady Sovereign, Pamela Anderson, Alex Reid, Kym Marsh, page 3 girl Nicola T, Ronnie Wood's ex Ekaterina Ivanova, and Hollywood vice madam Heidi Fleiss.

Producer Shirley Jones has today revealed that the whole series has been inspired by Dante's Inferno (but will the celebrities know what that means?), explaining:

Kym Marsh is the latest celebrity to sign up for Celebrity Big Brother

Kym took to her twitter and wrote a fairly uncryptic message which went something along the lines of: "Finished corrie for a couple of weeks, now going to get myself a 'reality' check" - we say something like that because she deleted it straight after and wrote:

"just been told off! Feel like I had been sent to the head masters office!"

Her memory is obviously a bit rubbish though as a few minutes later in replies to fans she said:

Kym Marsh beats Katie Price to Mum of the Year Award

Katie Price, the woman who recently boasted that she gives her four-year-old son highlights because he 'looks odd without a bit of colour', loses out on Celebrity Mum of the Year Award shocker.

Considering the fact that previous winners have included Kerry Katona (twice!), Sharon Osbourne and Price herself (back in the days of yore), it did actually seem as though anyone could be within a shot, but in the end it was pub-singer turned soap-star (via a shiny bob) Kym Marsh who walked away with the crown.

Can you guess who this ageing actor is?

It's 27-year-old Jack Ryder! Remember him? He played mechanic Jamie Mitchell in EastEnders before he was mowed down in the square and killed accidentally by Martin Fowler.

Here he is emerging from the GMTV studios, so he must be still relevant in some way.

Perhaps Jack is looking so old and unrecognisable becasue he never recovered from his split with Hear'Say-singer-turned-Corrie-actress Kym Ryder.

Or perhaps it was because he lost his virginity to Janine Butcher all those years ago before having to play Sonia Jackson's lover.
