J Edgar trailer: Leonardo DiCaprio fights crime, then gets corrupt, then gets old

By the looks of the trailer, the film is about Judi Dench, hair wax and talking quietly and menacingly in a deep south accent. There's also some cars and shooting. If any of those sound like your bag, then this film will be a wonderful experience. If not, or if you just want to correct our Myspace mistake ("It's facebook u fuking cunts"), then you should probably watch the trailer just to see Leo as an old man. IT'S A HOOT!

Cinema for Peace: Sean Penn, Leo DiCaprio, Julia Roberts and Hilary Swank

Although, as Sean will tell you, there are much better ways to raise money than simply beating up your family. Not that that's not a good way, but in terms of bruises per dollar raised it's just not enough. Satisfaction, that's pretty much all you get. But it's money THE KIDS need, so instead old Seanipoos held a Cinema for Peace event in LA on Saturday night.

Golden Globes 2012 nominations: Ides of March up for four noms, Community still absent

FILM

Fairly reasonable. No real surprises. Not sure whether 50/50 was that funny. Or whether Warhorse was any good. Kristen Wiig for Bridesmaids, Ryan Gosling for Ides of March and Crazy Stupid Love, Brendan Gleeson for The Guard and Trent Reznor for Dragon Tattoo all great choices.

Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations: Modern Family, 30 Rock and Bryan Cranston

Incidentally that's not to say Steve Buscemi and Paz de la Huerta's constant nakedness weren't great in Boardwalk Empire, but well, the whole thing just became kind of a drag after a while. Sorry Steve. Peter Dinklage as Tyrion in GOT though… now that was amazing.

LACMA intolerant

Everyone in Hollywood goes to the LACMA party to honour Clint Eastwood & John Baldessari

As well as honouring Baldessari, the LACMA paid tribute to Clint Eastwood. We're not completely sure what the whole event was about but it was held at a museum, so probably something to do with fundraising - look, all the girls above bought their purses except for Evan Rachel Wood. Crafty Evan, there's no persuading her to hand over her cash. Not when she's got it hidden in her knickers.

Leonardo Dicaprio mistaken for robber in Sydney jewellery store.

Last week in Sydney, leonardo Dicaprio just wanted to buy his old mum a necklace, so he popped into the Family Jewels (sigh) jewellery shop in Sydney, where his celeb disguise raised alarm bells, as the shop's manager has described:

"Linda was working on her own and I was next door grabbing a coffee.

"Linda was serving a customer when the two big bodyguards approached. The customer sees what's happening and says, "This doesn't look good".'

Aside from Beyonce's big announcement and Lady Gaga prosthetic penis, Chris Brown did some dancing at the VMAs. It impressed Lohan, who wasn't invited, so much that she tweeted that he'd "killed it". Killed what? His current girlfriend? The radio star? Not sure, but she then followed it up with “wanna meet?”. Urgh.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire involved in illegal gambling ring

Which is why we weren't even a tiny bit surprised when we found out Tobey Maguire, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ben Affleck, and Matt Damon had all been linked to an illegal poker ring run by a former LA hedge fund manager currently doing time for running a Ponzi scheme, named Bradley Ruderman. Why Maguire has been singled out for suerage we can't tell you, but what we do know is the Spiderman actor managed to win $187,000 from Ruderman, which is almost an entire year's salary for one of our HM interns (what with all the bungs we're apparently taking).

No! no, no, no! Leave him alone. Leave John Fante alone. Just turn around and walk away. I’m looking at you Bobby Towne. I know you wrote Chinatown, but that was a long, long time ago. There are some books that should not messed with, ripped apart and have Colin Farrell forced on them. Ask The Dust is a perfect, pure book. Every sentence is a little fucking poem. It’s not even a terrible film. It’s a mediocre film. That makes it worse.

Leonardo Di Caprio is a real life Entourage character, the bastard

Leonardo Di Caprio strikes me as a pretty decent celebrity. Someone who is known first and foremost for being a good actor, but still manages to bang Giselle and Bar Rafaelli and spend his spare time flying his mates around the world for a party.

The nearest i've got to that is when my mate Tree gave me a dutch oven in the back of a van called The Monkfish. He then held my belt while I leaned and pissed out of the side of the van at 3am just outside Glasgow, spraying the police car that was driving past.
