The Pride of Britain awards are given to the unsung heroes of the nation, which is a very nice idea because it's normally pesky celebs hogging the headlines rather than brave school teachers, nurses and lollipop ladies. Except, hang on, what's this - pesky celebs hogging the limelight at the awards? Hmmm, we're sure they were just there to offer moral support and the fact that Cheryl Cole turned up in a Victoria Beckham dress will only be mentioned as a total afterthought.

In fact, it wasn't until she became a fully-fledged woman and joined the Spice Girls in her early 30s that she believed she would finally get her chance to be sexually suggestive in front of a large crowd. But no. Even then she was relegated to the position of 'Kicky Sing-y Spice'. Oh the cruel fates. How they mocked her weird armband and deeply unattractive tattoos.

Still, keeping fit seems to be the theme of the day as we have Alexander Skarsgard leaving a gym in LA and the tastefully named Scorching Stilettos burlesque troop performing in Dublin, led by Carolyn Reilly. That's funny, we could have sworn it was a backstreet in Bangkok and that there's a ping pong ball floating around somewhere just out of shot?

Mikhail Gorbachev has A List 80th Birthday party in London - nip slips (not his)!

Now I don't know about you, but I only tend to invite my bezzy mates to my Birthday parties and whilst I could be wrong (after all who knows, Mikhail and Mel C could be fierce Scrabble partners) I'm getting a whiff of freeloading here. Holly Valance at Mikael Gorbachev's 80th Birthday party? WTF?

Besides Holly and Mel C there were some proper celebs such as Arnie, Ted Turner, Sharon Stone there so all was not lost.

Something tells me Mikhail wasn't all that fussed about who came - he looked slightly bewildered by the whole thing.

I'll level with you, I haven't seen one of these plays and probably never will - but the pics are worth a gander, if only to see Brian May and Anita Dobson continue their long-established science project where over a period of years they gradually switch bodies.

Spice Girls to reunite again?

This bunch were once amongst the most famous women in the world. Unbelievable.

Look at them now. A Loose Woman panelist, a half baked and half witted children's author, a crap radio station presenter and a...what the hell does Mel C do?

Here they are scampering around London resembling a posse of single mums off to a speed dating night at Wetherspoons.

Posh didn't make it. She's too busy flogging clothes in LA and kissing Ellen Degeneres's bumhole. Congrats Vics!

Bananarama and Mel C team-up for cancer charity

The ladies were twanging their banjos in support of a cancer research fundraising gig to be held at the Albert Hall.

What a line-up though. At first we thought Gloria Hunniford was pesky celeb-hugging midget Tania Macintosh. She gets everywhere!

Mel C was the sporty scouse in the Spice Girls. Before it was deemed chavy to be seen constantly in a pair of tracky Bs, she was known for hitting the high notes in the group and for her backflips in the girls' videos. When collecting a Brit award she famously said to Liam Gallagher, "Liam, come and have a go if you think you're hard enough." Fight talk isn't one of her strong points. Since leaving the band, she had relative solo success with her albums, Northern Star and Reason. Dismissing all rumours that she was a lesbian Mel C gave birth to a baby girl, Scarlet on 22nd February 2009.
