Alec Baldwin reportedly spent yesterday evening in hospital after a caller - believed to be his 14-year-old daughter, Ireland - summoned 911 to the Emmy winner's Manhattan apartment.

According to 'Today in New York', the caller was concerned for Baldwin's health because the actor was "unresponsive". However, when police and medics arrived at the Central Park West apartment, the 51-year-old agreed to taken to the Lenox Hill Hospital by ambulance, where he was reportedly examined and released an hour later - although his own reps and the hospital have not commented on the incident.

Staunch Democrat Baldwin, who has recently been talking about his desire to move into politics, is widely considered to be the most stable - and successful - member of the Baldwin clan - despite having had a rocky relationship with his ex-wife, Kim Basinger, and daughter, whom he was heard calling a "rude little pig" in a voicemail recording leaked to the press in 2007.

The star of '30 Rock' and current cinema release 'It's Complicated' is due to host the Oscars with Steve Martin on 7 March.
