Blake Fielder-Civil has revealed that Amy Winehouse nearly died in his arms after a three-day crack and heroin bender, back in 2006.

The ex-con ex of Wino told the Sun that she had a fit and stopped breathing.

He said: "It was nearly midnight and I'd finally got her upstairs. We were sitting on the bed talking. Her eyes suddenly went blank...

"She started having a fit on the bed. She slid down on to the floor before I could stop her. She started quivering again and it suddenly grew into what seemed like a full-blown epileptic fit."

He explained how he had to pull her tongue out of her mouth to stop her biting it.

He added: "I held her to me - and I thought she was dying in my arms... I couldn't bear for her to die in front of me."

Ah, what a gent - just as long as she was out of eyeshot when she pops her clogs.

The singer (pictured arriving at court for her assault trial on Friday) had apparently launched into the three day bender to celebrate the success of her album 'Back to Black' in 2006. She was rushed to University College Hospital in London where she collapsed again but recovered.

Blake divorced the singer last week on the grounds of adultery and is presumably trying to get some good PR out there about how nice he was to her, saving her tongue and everything, despite the fact that he was probably the bad influence in the first place.

The teeth are the outside bit, Blake. The tongue is the soft bit on the inside. Pulling it out through the teeth when someone's convulsing is not a surefire way to stop it getting bitten...
