Mitch and Janis Winehouse are worried that their daughter's addiction to alcohol may kill her unless she can be saved, they said told an interviewer for an ITV1 documentary...

Amy's father Mitch told Daphne Barak in the documentary about the 26-year-old decline into addiction that will be aired tonight:

I need my daughter to be a whole person again. I've tried it all. I said: 'Amy you've got to do this, you've got to go to this doctor, you've got to do this, you've got to do that, you're killing me, you're killing your mum.' None of it worked.

Meanwhile mother Janis added:

The need to rescue her is enormous. I just want her to be OK and I would do whatever it took to make that right. Amy is in denial all the time. She probably feels trapped, her body is trapping her. But I know with addiction you do not have the choice because the substance itself directs you.

Amy has been living off her record company's expenses in St Lucia but doesn't look any better now then did when she lived in Camden.

Mitch added:

For the last six months, there's been a remarkable recovery. A gradual recovery, which is good. With slight backward steps - not drug backward steps, more drink backward steps if you follow my drift. I think that will be the pattern of recovery.

And we agree with Mitch's view on Blaaaaaaaaaaake when he said the mere thought of them reuniting was "too horrible to contemplate."
