Stephen Gately's body has started it's journey back home for his funeral, being held in Dublin tomorrow. Earlier, the remaining members of Boyzone made their first public statement.

Ronan Keating said:

"Last Saturday our world changed forever when we lost our friend and brother Stephen.

We have come to Majorca today to accompany our pal on his final journey back to Dublin, where we know he will be given an unforgettable send off tomorrow. We'd like to thank the authorities here for their help and for the respect they have shown to our friend.

Stephen & Andrew had chosen to make Majorca their second home and we know that Stephen loved the times they spent together here.

The countless messages of love and support we have received this week have truly overwhelmed ourselves and the Gately family. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for each and every one of them. We would also like to thank the media for respecting our privacy this week and ask that you continue to do so tomorrow.

Stephen lived to perform and truly loved being centre stage. You can be sure he's looking down on us now wishing we’d move over so he could flash his smile for the cameras one more time.

What the future holds for the four of us now is too hard to even think about. But we know that nothing will ever be the same without our dearest friend, Stephen... rest in peace, brother."

The funeral takes place tomorrow at noon. The four boys will carry the casket, along with two family members. They will also perform a song. Attendee's are expected to include Elton John, Andrew Lloyd Webber and former Irish Prime Minister Bertie Ahern.

It is going to be chaos there. According to one mole, locals on Sherrif Street, where Stephen grew up are busy renting out their upstairs rooms to the hundreds of photographers descending on the capital.

  • Thank you HM for being respectful regarding this tragedy and the reportage that has at least taken the unusual step of not taking the piss. You all know how i would light the fire(of funeral pyre) and dance on the graves of useless air-breathing cunting fuckerees that are the Geldofs, Hiltons, Andres, Prices, big brother cunts and so many more.
Give the guy a good Irish send-off- I shall be raising a glass of the black stuff, RIP

  • Boyzone were quoted as saying they missed their friend and brother. Louis Walsh was quoted as saying he missed Stephen like a son. Michael Barrymore says "I was nowhere near the fucking place"

  • I'm guessing everyone's heard the one about Michael Jackson's disappointment after he misheard and thought that someone from the boys home had died and was on his way to heaven?
