DJ Ironik is currently recovering in hospital after being stabbed after a gig in Southend last night. The reports are yet to be confirmed by his people (EDIT: they are now, see bottom of article), but the news was announced via his Twitter by a friend last night. And for those of you who actually know who he is (or give a shit), he is 'doing ok'.

At 5am this morning, a message on Ironik's Twitter read:

"Ironik is in hospital. He has been stabbed and is in hospital but is okay"

 

Not a very tactile way of breaking the news to his devoted fans (we're sure he has some) that their favourite artist has been stabbed. After a series of frantic tweets from worried fans, his friend repeated:

"I'm with @DJIronik right now at the hospital. Yes he has been stabbed. He is in A&E but is doing ok."

Stabbed by a knife when all he wanted was 10,000 spoons. Isn't it ironik?

HM wishes you a speedy recovery. We can't go too long without another Elton John sample.

Hackford Jones PR have now confirmed the attack:

Ironik was attacked and stabbed in the early hours of Saturday morning during an attempted robbery whilst returning to his home in North London. He was stabbed in his upper leg, taken to hospital and is currently being treated. He is understandably shaken up by this unprovoked attack.
