Last night saw the opening of Britney Spears' week long O2 residency. Thousands of fans turned up to see one of the world's biggest stars sing her way through her long list of worldwide smash hits in a mix of dance, lights and wonderment. Were they disappointed?

Well, it depends whether you went to see a show or went to see a gig. If you went to see a singer you'd have been disappointed - if you went expecting to see a slightly pudgy burlesque show then hurray for you - you got the golden ticket! It wasn't any surprise that she mimed, the tour has been going on long enough and it's been widely reported, but strip away everything in it that wasn't Britney and you get a slightly bored woman blundering her way across a stage. Some top British journalists were there and said on twitter:

"Its churlish to complain Britney's not singing live when she's being cut in 3 parts by magicians & simulating sex with trapeze artists"

Dan Wooton from News of the World was there and said:

"45 minutes in and she's finally given a microphone to say hello london and sing everytime LIVE! NO! WAY! I thought it sounded polished. But still devastated!"

EPIC BRITNEY FAIL.
