While widower, Simon Monjack, was raking in the cash in honour of his dead wife, the Los Angeles County coroner's office confirmed the true cause of Brittany Murphy's death.

According to the coroner, pneumonia was the primary cause of Murphy's death, with "multiple drug intoxication" being a major contributing factor. Details on the drugs she had in her system are due to be revealed when a full report is released in two weeks time.

However, TMZ have claimed that the drugs in question were all on prescription and included "medicine for cramps, and over-the-counter medications, including cough syrup."

With the actress' death officially ruled as an accident, any claims of foul play have been eliminated. The coroner's assistant chief, Ed Winter, confirmed that "no one's criminally liable here".

Meanwhile, the same LA coroner office also released details of the death of Casey Johnson, heiress to the Johnson & Johnson health care products fortune and fiancée of reality TV star, Tila Tequila. It turns out that Johnson, who was found dead on the 4th of January, died of complications from diabetes; rather than a drug overdose, as previously expected. The chief coroner explained that hadn't been taken her insulin "wasn't taking good care of herself". You don't say.
