Update on Brittany Murphy's death
Tue, 22/12/2009 - 19:08 by HM writer

Brittany Murphy's husband Simon Monjack has spoken publicly about his wife's sudden death and responded to rumours that she was taking prescription pills for flu-like symptoms before she died. Meanwhile, it's currently being alleged that "large amounts" of prescription pills have since been found in Murphy's bedroom...

Brittany Murphy, 32, died on Sunday after she went into cardiac arrest and husband Monjack told Hollywood Access yesterday evening:

"My world was destroyed yesterday."

He added that the day of Murphy's tragic passing had begun like a "regular day" until her mother Sharon discovered her unconscious in the bathroom.

He said that the day of Murphy's death had begun like a "regular day" until her mother Sharon discovered Murphy unconscious in the bathroom, adding:

"Sharon went into the bathroom because she had been in there a long time. Her mom screamed for me and I ran. Then called 911."

The British screenwriter, married to Murphy for two years, also claimed that she had recently been ill but denied recent rumours that he had been a controlling, bad influence in their marriage or that Murphy had been self-destructive.

"I don't know why anyone would think that...She found love. We found love. Brittany didn't get to where Brittany was with anyone controlling her… Brittany was Brittany."

He added:

"She had laryngitis...She had been tired at the end of the year. She had made a couple of movies."

Meanwhile, large amounts of prescription pills were reportedly found in Murphy's bedroom, according to notes from an investigator with the Los Angeles coroner's office.

According to the notes, obtained by US gossip website TMZ, the medication included Topamax (anti-seizure pills also to prevent migraines), Methylprednisolone (anti-inflammatory), Fluoxetine (depression med), Klonopin (anxiety pills), Carbamazepine (treats Diabetic symptoms and is also a bipolar med), Ativan (anxiety med), Vicoprofen (pain reliever), Propranolol (hypertension, used to prevent heart attacks), Biaxin (antibiotic), Hydrocodone (pain pills) and various vitamins.

Which is amount we'd definitely describe as "large".

TMZ is also claiming that Murphy was complaining of "abdominal pains" and "shortness of breath" hours prior to her death. No foul play is suspected but an official cause of death is yet to be determined.

  • You'd want to insist on bottled water if you lived in Hollywood. Imagine ingesting all those prescription drugs that your average happy, healthy, hypermedicated starlet is pissing out on a daily basis.

Enough psychostimulation to turn you into Dancing Worm
