Let's not even mention John Leslie

Bit of a surprise this... It's just been confirmed that Catherine Zeta-Jones checked into rehab last week, with bipolar II being cited as the reason - the same disorder both Britney Spears and Kerry Katona have previously spoken about suffering from.

Following Michael's throat cancer diagnosis last year and subsequent recovery, his wife Catherine Zeta Jones has revealed that she's suffering from mental health issues, with her publicist, Cece Yorke, confirming that she recently underwent inpatient treatment for bipolar II disorder - a form of manic depression - in rehab.

In a statement, Yorke explained that she is now "feeling great" and planning to start work on two films this week, but added:

"After dealing with the stress of the past year, Catherine made the decision to check into a mental health facility for a brief stay to treat her bipolar II disorder."

Several jokes doing the rounds already, but let's just wish her the best - shitty 12 months or wot (especially with National Enquirer sniffing around for details, which makes you realise why she made an official statement). Plus it's a damn better reason to check into rehab than the 'oops, better show I'm making an effort to not be such a drunk/racist' we've seen before.

Anyway, she may have starred in Ocean's 12, but if it wasn't for the Oscar winner, we'd never have had this...

  • You forget she's just a girl from a farm with David Jason and Pam Ferris for parents. This must all be a little overwhelming.

  • It's great that she's on the mend. She's an incredible role model and a beautiful woman. Although I was on the bus (yet again) and overheard the most deranged conversation. From what I could gather, a passenger, who was confused, obviously, suggested that the reason she "went mad" was because she kept having flashbacks of her husband's rectangular arse as seen in Basic Instinct. She'd always thought it was down to a camera angle but realised on their honeymoon that (shitting fuck!) it was real. And in trying to act her way around it: "Oh Michael honey it's fine. I love you!" she'd put herself under so much pressure that her brain broke.
