Simon Cowell has signed Cheryl Cole to be a judge on the forthcoming X Factor USA in a $6million deal.

Details are still pretty thin on the ground (like Cheryl in her nearly naked calendar), but the news is hardly surprising - the pair have been bum chums for the past few years on the show and it was widely expected that Cowell would want her by his side once he announced he was jumping ship from American Idol and bringing the X Factor juggernaut stateside.

The other judges are likely to be either Nicole Sheryyzzzingler from the Pussycat Dolls or Katy Perry along with some bloke.

Cheryl was only offered the job on Saturday night after filming the show. Simon must have been desperate to keep his fag break buddy close to hand (Watch each Sunday when bands are playing - they often nip off stage to have a quick smoke whilst no-one is watching).
