When we rightly tore McFly's latest album apart - "truly fucking awful", we seem to remember being the closing three words - we did not predict the ensuing shit storm that would erupt from their absolutelyshittingmental doting fans. Nor did we predict that it would tip their bassist, Dougie Poynter, over the edge and send him to the Priory to replenish his woes. We're very sorry Dougie - we didn't mean for you to take it personally!

Obviously that's not the real reason Dougie's checked into rehab. You can blame Frankie Sandford for that...

The bassist is still reeling from his break-up with The Saturdays singer in November, and being recently replaced by footballer Wayne Bridge. The pair dated for 18 long months - with a brief split in between - and Dougie's still struggling to get over the fact she dumped him and ran off to be a fully-fledged WAG.

A 'source close to him' said:

"Dougie was absolutely heartbroken when Frankie dumped him. He saw himself getting married and having kids and being with her for life. And he was just crushed. It got to the point where he was struggling to get through the day so he decided to seek help at the Priory clinic."

When asked about her new fling with Bridge in a recent interview, he gave this sarcastic reply:

"Seeing her arm in arm with a footballer is amazing. I just love that, it's ace."

The rest of his bandmates rallied round for him on Twitter last night, assuring their deranged fans - who are probably checking into rehab themselves to cure their pain at Dougie signing up - that he'd be back fighting fit for their tour. Although they've already been forced to postpone a couple of dates.

We like Dougie and we hope he gets well soon. No boy aged 23 should ever come to the point where he's so depressed that he has to seek medical help. Especially not over a silly young girl like Frankie Sandford. You'll find someone better - hopefully someone who possesses at least one more brain cell than a duck.
