Billy Joel is lucky to have a friend like Elton John. Elton doesn't just sit him down for a private word about how his alcoholism and other problems are affecting his life and their tour. Of course not, Elton goes straight to Rolling Stone and tells them that his old pal Billy needs to go to rehab. What a great friend.

According to Elton, Billy Joel's previous stints in rehab for alcoholism and substance abuse, most recently in 2002 and 2005 haven't worked and this is mostly because the rehab centres have been too comfortable and have luxuries like television and floorboards. Whereas when Elton went to rehab he was doing chores, nasty ones, with a toothbrush. 

"When i went to rehab, I had to clean floors. He goes to rehab where they have TVs ... Billy, you're not going to get rid of [your demons] at 'rehab lite'."

We'd definitely pay more to watch Elton mopping a floor than we would to see Gnomeo and Juliet. The idea of 'rehab lite' is good though. It almost sounds fun. 

Billy Joel doesn't seem too fazed though:

"I've enjoyed our relationship too much to let something as random as these comments change my affection for him. Elton is just being Elton."

Maybe don't expect a tour with Elton John and Billy Joel anytime soon.
