Seth Rogen tries to make cancer funny
Fri, 10/06/2011 - 16:27 by Peter Meehan

It's Friday again and unfortunately some of you will have already managed to piss pretty much your entire paypacket up the wall since this time last week, so congratulations on that. Luckily we, as always, are here to help ease the pain, albeit by completely ignoring your requests to turn HM into a carbon copy of D-Listed or even, as someone so kindly said, by 'writing some funny stuff' and instead making you watch four trailers for films you didn't know or care about. Thank you, HM survey.

So, here's the ones we've chosen and why we've chosen them. Watch them. AT YOUR PERIL! OOOHH.

To start with we've got The Muppets: Green With Envy, a film that starts off looking like any of the boring rom-coms that've been released and then swiftly avoided in recent years, before all of a sudden, becoming something special when the muppets arrive, throwing the plot and everything else out of the window for manic puppet fun.

Next up is The Perfect Host, in which a robber tries to hide out in a home that is being looked after by crazy Niles Crane, who ties up the robber and then conducts a dinner party around him. It looks like an alright horror, or an alright comedy, we can't really tell.

Third is 50/50, a quirky comedy about a young man who gets cancer. Cancer isn't traditionally a great source for quirky comedies, but with Seth Rogen in, it looks like it could have that warm-hearted comedy nonsense that we suffered through in Juno.

Lastly is the Danish film R, about a young man who goes to prison and has to learn how not to get killed in the shower or raped in the shower, as well as other non-shower-related prison lessons. It looks incredibly gritty and violent, so probably one to put on for your nan to enjoy.
