Up In The Air gets released this Friday, the same week that it's up for a shed load of awards. Funny that. 

It'll probably be shoved to the back of his mantlepiece by the time award season commences in March (his last three films are all up for various prizes), but George Clooney picked up his first gong of the year for his performance in Up In The Air at the Film Critics Circle ceremony last night.

 

We're so far out of the critic's circle that we haven't even seen it...

 

The actor was joined by James Gandolfini, who was last seen losing the prestigious Halloween costume award, Inglourious Basterds star Michael Fassbender, who we're glad has scraped himself off the floor after being spotted looking a little spangled in Hackney on New Year's Day, Wes Anderson, who directed him in The Fantastic Mr Fox, and his Italian girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis.

 

Speaking to ET about the awards tour, Cloon explained:

 

"Well it's fun. I've sort of been around it a couple of times and I sort of know what to do and what not to do... so I've been very, every time they're nice to you, you just say, 'Thank you,' and remember when they're not nice to you."

 

And on what he's letting go of this year, he then added:

 

"Shaving," reportedly gesturing towards his beard.

  • In the pics of Clooney, his head doesn't seem to be attached to his body properly. Ah you sure he was there and not a stand in who got photoshopped out? Really strange-looking pictures.
