Expand the Brand

Russell Brand's character in 'Get him to the Greek' has proved so popular with the American people*, the soundtrack he recorded in character is set for a big rock and roll release.

* The character wasn't so popular with one member of the British public however - he pushed Russell Brand into Trafalgar Square fountain!

The obligatory source said:

"Russell was a natural as a rock 'n' roll frontman and there's a lot of scope for clever marketing campaigns around his role."

Dear God.

The film is a return to the Aldous Snow character which he played in 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall' and Get Him To The Greek was written specifically for Russell as the character was so popular.

The soundtrack, recorded by the fictional band 'Infant Sorrow' has been snapped up by Universal Records and they reckon he's going to hit No.1.

More like No.2 surely? Unlike that video clip ^up there^ which is a perfect example of the fan hitting the shit.

  • Aldous Snow is a great character. It's amazing that Russell Brand managed to create such an authentic persona without any reference to the rock music. I'm sure that with a proper career training he could have more success.

  • looks like the hot Russell Brand has a future on the music industry as a rock star... with the album selling so high he's undoubtedly effective on his character as Rock Star Aldous Snow

Can't totally wait to see how he rocked the whole movie!

  • Better still - why don't you just cunt off?

    koshmar Sat, 22/05/2010 - 19:20
  • He's not "launching" any music career, whatever Holy Moly might report.
    It's a comedy album sheesh.

  • In your opinion, ernie. ^_^

    xxminishaxx Fri, 30/04/2010 - 02:21
  • Ha ha good point ! it's about time this fucking "comedian" did something amusing.

The Rev Jesse Custer Thu, 29/04/2010 - 13:57
  • I say let him launch his career. We'll finally have a good reason to laugh at him.

    angrykid Thu, 29/04/2010 - 10:27
  • Nope - assault is assault! There's a bit of a difference between pushing a preening pillock into a fountain and beating the crap out of someone?

Either way Brand is a pretty repulsive individual not to mention woefully unfunny. May he catch the bad aids and fuck off back into obscurity.

    erniemilko Thu, 29/04/2010 - 10:03
  • Yes, but let's not forget the all important phrase:

"Russell was a natural as a rock 'n' roll frontman and there's a lot of scope for clever marketing campaigns around his role."

    In other words, credibility and originality, zero;
Brand whoredom and corporate dicksucking LOTS.

    slug Thu, 29/04/2010 - 09:48
  • You seem quite protective of that drunken yob... Was that your brother or something? XD

    xxminishaxx Thu, 29/04/2010 - 08:08
  • Dear old Danny should be doing some fucking time in chokey, the fat violent cunt

    koshmar Thu, 29/04/2010 - 03:51
  • Dear old Dannny the bodygard is very protective of Russell.

    :)

    xxminishaxx Thu, 29/04/2010 - 01:05
  • Yes but some of their songs are stories in themselves.
If you listen to "Married on the Morrow" That's a song entirely based on one character. They never put it in the show because it wasn't pertinant to any of the plot.

If they do stuff like that, which I think they will... then it'll be worth listening to.

They already said that simply re-packaging all the songs from the show was out of the question...

    xxminishaxx Thu, 29/04/2010 - 00:52
  • "Hipster"? That's an American term, I'm guessing?
Sounds like something that my Grandma would say.

    xxminishaxx Thu, 29/04/2010 - 00:48
  • See, I like the Boosh. I enjoy their TV show. It's silly and fun. But I sure as hell wouldn't buy an album by those two. Their songs are just plot-forwarding devices; on their own, they don't exactly hold much musical merit.

    retrovertigo Wed, 28/04/2010 - 23:57
  • I bet they're godawful tripe, except to the ears of a desperate student such as yourself, just dying for a singular piece of your own identity in a world of 'individual' sameness. Shaggy-haired pseudo hipster cunts the lot of them.

    forestmonkey Wed, 28/04/2010 - 22:56
  • It's a type of smiley.

The Mighty Boosh are producing a comedy Album at some point.
There's will definitly be worth the money. They're pretty good at putting a lot of different ideas into what they do anyway.

I would buy the GHTTG Album purely because it's a caricaturization of contemporary rock n roll artists.

And the songs are pretty good on their own too.

    xxminishaxx Wed, 28/04/2010 - 21:17
  • What does "XD" mean?

Anyway, novelty albums are rarely funny.

    retrovertigo Wed, 28/04/2010 - 20:12
  • Well Jarvis Cocker and Carl Barat did write some of those songs.
But obviously this is going to be a comedy album.

He did do that hilariously awful rendition of the Beatles track "When I'm sixty-four" with that Oscar-winning composer David Arnold (it didn't help lol)... it was funny because he got teased a lot about it by his co-hosts on the radio 2 show. XDD

He sounded like Dot Cotton. (I beg you all to Youtube it!)

I quite liked the first tracks "Inside Of You" he did for FSM. and "We gotta Do something" spoof. Though how he recorded them without laughing is beyond me.

    XD
    For this movie
    I'm looking forward to
    "I am Jesus" and
    "The Clap"

I heard they were funny. :)

    xxminishaxx Wed, 28/04/2010 - 18:44
  • What an epic cunt this bloke is, and LouisaSteph, I hope you fucking realise what a humourless shit this man is - after being pushed in the fountain, his thug bodyguard smacked the shit out of the bloke responsible, for something which shurely any funnyman would see as a jolly jape.

Not Mr Fucking Precious Cunt, obviously

    koshmar Wed, 28/04/2010 - 18:38
  • Ha, I've just seen that exchange. It's just like when the Girls Can't Catch brigade got their backs up. Speaking of which, whatever did happen to them?

    dandyboy Wed, 28/04/2010 - 14:14
  • Dear god why is this thing still alive, it makes my skin crawl just imagining the diseases it carries.
Who the fuck is paying this thing to work?

    manor Wed, 28/04/2010 - 14:02
  • Oh dear God no, dare we look forward to a Katie and Peter style Christmas duet with Brand / Perry?

Koshmar, don't be nasty about him otherwise Louisasteph will get upset with you again.
