Up the wizard's sleeve

We're sure you're all massive fans of Harry Potter, so when we tell you there's an exhibition going on in Times Square, where you can see authentic props from the films, we'll understand if you can barely contain your excitement. Of course, it's in the US, because apparently we don't need those kind of things, what with our wonderful British imaginations and all that. Possibly.

One of the most unfortunate things about the good old HP franchise is that while Emma Watson and Daniel Radcliffe rather clumsily front the whole thing (Rupert Grint isn't actually that bad) most of the rest of the actors are quite good, which makes it very difficult for us at HM to group them all together, generalise and make our most favourite of statements, the sweeping one.

Anyway, quite good actors Sir Michael Gambon, David Thewlis, Robbie Coltrane, Damien Lewis (don't actually remember him being in HP, but he was good enough as Dick Winters for it not to matter too much) and Mark Williams all turned up at the grand opening of the exhibition, while the three main characters were notably absent. Thankfully absent, perhaps.

Which means, this actually turns out to be a strangely complimentary article about Harry Potter, so there you go.

  • Spot on Jimmy. I really like Rupert Grint, the other two often strike me as passionless posh kids with no instinct for acting. She's the worst though. By a good couple of miles.

  • Yeah, there is a massive talent discrepancy between the middle-aged cast and the younger ones. Personally I just wanted to watch Imelda Staunton, Helena BC and the rest and just forget about awful, plodding Daniel Radcliffe.
