In the run-up to the release of her new film, which has something to do with beavers, Jodie Foster has decided the best way to start her promotional work is to dismiss the commonly held belief that Mel Gibson's a bit of a bugger by instead claiming that he is in fact one of the most beloved people in the entire film industry.

A lie, if you will.

Of course, we couldn't possibly say whether Mel's a wife-beating psycopath or simply misunderstood. A bit like how some people see the bubonic plague as just a really nasty cold. Tomato tomato. You have to imagine someone saying toe-may-toe toe-ma-toe for that last sentence by the way. Gah. Just makes you want to learn Mandarin, doesn't it?

But, back to Jodie Foster and her vain attempt to rescue a film that probably won't be seen outside of prisons (Via E!):

"I think it's no secret that he's really one of the most loved people in the business, professionally."

 

"He has seen the film, he loves the movie,"

 

"He's doing well, you know, he's at an interesting moment in his life and he's really being as supportive as he can and, you know, clapping from the sidelines."

Doesn't take Hannibal Lecter to see through that little soupçon of bullshit, Clarice. Well done for trying though. 10 points to Gryffindor or something along those lines.
