Wight, I'm wunning.

Jonathan Ross has quit his £600,000,000 job at the BBC as contract negotiations didn't exactly go as planned. You may laugh, but look at who is lined up to replace him... as someone clever on Twitter just said, "You'll all miss him when 'Friday Night With Fearne Cotton' and 'Film 2010 with Reggie Yates' start."

He announced this morning that he had quit his Friday night talk show, his Saturday morning Radio 2 show and also his Film 2010 job when his contract ends in July.

He said:

"Over the last two weeks I have decided not to re-negotiate when my current contract comes to an end. I would like to make it perfectly clear that no negotiations ever took place and that my decision is not financially motivated.

I signed my current contract with the BBC having turned down more lucrative offers from other channels because it was where I wanted to be and – as I have said before – would happily have stayed there for any fee they cared to offer, but there were other considerations."

His critics have said that he jumped before he pushed and that it was probably the right time for him to go (I happen to think he was the best interviewer they had) but before they line the streets with bunting, a word of warning...

The BBC are said to be lining up Graham Norton to replace him on Friday nights. This is not even the worst of it:

"Stand-up comedian Michael McIntyre could also benefit from Ross' departure, with the BBC thought to be grooming the Live at the Apollo host into one of its leading performers."

RUUUUN FOR YOUR LIIIIIVES!

  • I see the Daily Mail are rubbing it's dirty little nazi-supporting Jew-hating hands with glee...

  • ...I would suggest Sean Hughes as a replacement, Wossy's used to that, ask his wife...

  • grange - the fact that Sky is for plebs rings true.

But it's an add-on to the existing licence fee (AKA stealth tax).

If the BBC removed all their content from Sky, and only transmitted on terrestrial digital to licence payers with encrypted cards... and Sky transmitted everything but BBC stuff... the pleb vote would edge it.

Don't for a second put me down as a supporter of the Murdoch dynasty.

But in the same breath... fuck the BBC management, bunch of idle clowns.

  • Michael fucking McIntyre? Jesus no. Mind you he's so smug with himself - the little cornfed cunt - that it would serve his arse right if he died on it thus proving what real comedians know: that the man's as funny as stale piss.

  • I'm afraid it's all true what they say about the arrogant Ross - way too over-reliant on smut rather than true wit. Still, it could be worse - they could draft his fuckwit brother in as a replacement.

It'll be a welcome relief on the fucking licence fee for sure....

  • Are you kidding ?

Sky is for plebs only. I aint a fan of Ross particuarly but radio 5 is excellant and news on Sky is pure propaganda.

  • So I wonder who at the BBC had the bright idea of putting that fat pinched faced mincer Graham Norton in place of Ross?

The same BBC "comedy" commissioner that decided "Two Pints Of Lager and a Packet of Piss" was humorous, probably.
Or the same commissioner who decided that Little Britain's catchphrase shite deserved a fifth series of trotting out the same old tranny characters.

The BBC can fuck off, apart from Attenborough there is almost nothing worth watching.

If they put the Sky annual subscription against the licence fee and forced people to choose between them, the BBC would be fucked.

    Mr. HM Thu, 07/01/2010 - 12:37
  • That prick George Lamb will probably get his Radio 2 slot, but I hope that someone who actually knows about cinema will do Film 2010, Mark Kermode would be alright by me, Jonathan Ross was fucking dreadful, especially when he gave Stardust a great review as his wife wrote the screenplay.
