Thanks to Katy Perry, Russell Brand will be celebrating his 35th birthday in a land far, far away from the rest of us. His wife-to-be had obviously grown tired of the traditional 'pair of socks and a blow job' present and, instead, popped down to the shops and brought Russ back a ticket to outer space. We can't thank her enough...

The trip - courtesy of Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic Spaceship - burnt a $200,000 hole in Perry's pocket and will see Brand rocketed 365,000ft into space.

Can anybody else think of a better use of two hundred grand?

Virgin Galactic representative, Louella Faria, confirmed:

"It is true. We are very excited to have him onboard.

And we are very excited to see the back of him...

"There will be 17-inch diameter windows to look out onto. Passengers will be able to view Earth around 800 miles in any direction from space.

They will pop champagne, give you astronaut wings and give you a party."

Unfortunately Louella didn't mention anything about the grand finale where they take a quick diversion to The Black Hole, open the back door of the spaceship and send Russell floating away into thin-air.
