Lee Ryan was supposed to be on the stand today, with his back against the wall, nowehere to run and no-one to call, the case open wide but sadly the jury won't decide, as his girlfriend has just withdrawn the assault charges...

Lee had been accused of punching girlfriend and mother of their stupidly named child, Rayn (who, let's not forget he met after she sent nudey snaps of herself to him on Myspace) Chris Brown style as they drove through the West End last week.

After the allegation against him was read out in court today, the prosecutor asked for the charge to be officially withdrawn following a request by Miller, who said:

"I have this morning been handed a withdrawal statement dated August 25 signed by Samantha Miller. Having taken further instructions there is no longer a realistic prospect of conviction. I ask the court therefore to withdraw the charge."
