Our favourite (100% non-fabricated) story so far today has to be this heart warming tail (did you see what we did there?) about Leona Lewis rescuing a bunny from the jaws of a tramp...

Leona, who is living in the US while she works on her second album, was out shopping in LA when she spotted a rabbit tied to a lead next to a homeless man.

So vegetarian Leona went up to the tramp to ask him what he had planned for the bunny and he apparently replied:

Don't know - probably eat it.

Which seems fair enough, he is homeless after all.

So Leona offered him $100 in exchange for the rabbit, which is now safe in the singer's care, animal fans.

A 'friend' said:

Leona is the proud owner of a new white rabbit called Melrose which she is keeping in her garden. She was shopping on Melrose Avenue last week when she spotted it being kept on a lead by a homeless man.

She didn't think life on a lead was any way for a rabbit to live - then when he said he was going to eat it she knew she had to save it.

Now it has the run of her garden without the fear of being cooked for dinner.

As long as a coyote, racoon, possum, bear, rat or bat (or whatever the US version of a fox is) doesn't eat it instead...

I'd like to see it flipped around though and have the animals exploiting fuckwit celebs to boost their own lifestyles - like a jack russell hitting the headlines as a hero for not being prepared to hump russell brand, or a dung beetle helping Johnny Borrell push his turdpile of a career into the gutter!
