I've never understood the propensity to destroy Madonna. It's been like that since the beginning of her career. I look at this picture with the same possibilities of being doctored as the ads themselves. Take a picture of yourselves (20's, 30's, 40's or more) and see how flattering they can be. Someone at Louis Vuitton has to be fired. Some jealous, cantankerous bitch.... I don't really believe these photos. I saw her in concert and she's magnificent! I'll give her the benefit of the doubt. Someone is trying to destroy her image. Off with their heads!!!!

Sure, magazines retouch people beyond belief. They do that to every celebrity. Madonna doesn't really order them to do it.

Yes, she does care about her image, but

1) if she cared so much, she would have more plastic surgery done instead of some temporary injectable fillers.

2) if she cared so much, she wouldn't let the paparazzi photograph her without make up, when her hair is a mess, in tracksuits, straight out of the gym.

3) She would have all the outtakes destroyed or would sue the companies involved in the leaking of these pictures.

Furthermore, she BARELY has any wrinkles in these pictures, she has a few lines under her eyes that have always been there. Her eyes look tired, yes, but that's about it.
These high definition cameras and harsh lighting cause a ton of harsh shadows and you can see EVERY one of her pores.

If they zoomed in as much on our faces we would look just like that, or sadly, worse.

But I do agree that the industry is fucking up our minds with bullshit photoshopping, but take it to the people responsible for it, not just the models in front of the camera.

No-one is disputing that Madonna looks good for her age. But I think you've got that argument the wrong was round. The whole airbrushing/celebrity culture/you don't count if your not Belsen skinny is perpetuated by the media and is seriously screwing with our psyches. All anyone cares about is looks, and the unreal images published in magazines of 'perfect women' and buffed up six-pack men is making us unnaturally obsessive about ourselves. Suddenly finding out Madonna is fallible and aging like the rest of us and her looks are being manipulated, is a RELIEF. People take the piss because they're sick of being made to feel inferior.
But she's fair game anyway because she behaves like a fucking idiot. And she'd probably spit in your eye if you said she looked good for her age. She doesn't want to be 51 and she doesn't need some pleb reminding her about it.

Why is it that people feel the need to rip others down simply for very human things - ageing, weight, looks etc? I figure it's the insecurities within society which instigates those to highlight other peoples flaws in order to find better acceptance for themselves (ie: If I point out that Madonna has wrinkles, like me, then maybe people will accept me more)

It's because of this unrealistic view of how celebrities should be that they feel the need to have their photos touched-up, in order to conform.

So who changes? The people analysing and mocking flaws or natural traits or the celebrities who have everything airbrushed?

It would be good if celebs stopped doing it to take a stand and basically say "This is the real us - accept us or go without" but it would also be ideal if people weren't so vindictive and cruel about others.

Yes, she looks older and less polished in the pre-airbrushed shots but, for crying out loud, she's 51. I think she looks fantastic for her age.
