Differently-faced actor Mickey Rourke has been lined up to promote a new alcohol-free beer in a side-splitting TV ad that – oh, God – will ‘toy’ with his wildman public persona...

The Wrestler star is being presented at the ‘face’ of Wit, a new non-alcohol tipple from Dutch brewers Bavaria. Is that such a good idea given that his ‘face’ already looks like a sheet of filo pastry tied in a knot?

The hilarious twist in the ad will be that Rourke will glug away at the beer and – wait for it – suddenly realise that it has NO alcohol! He’s been duped! But it’s OK as the beer is really lovely! So it doesn’t matter that he can’t get pissed on it and go on a rampage! Etc!

  • Hope that Mickey won't end up with an Alcohol Treatment issue after this commercial. Of course that the beer he advertises for is non-alcoholic, but I don't think he is a fan of that.

  • Surely they did the exact same advert with Oliver Reed who spat a load of beer out that he was enjoying when someone pointed out it was alcohol free, or something? It's not exactly an original concept ffs and no one does hellraiser like Reed did.
