The Oscars - also known as the Academy Awards - are meant to be the film industry's main awards, although they come after all the other ceremonies, and pretty much imitate them in every way. This year seems to be no exception, with Natalie Portman, Colin Firth, Black Swan and The King's Speech all up for prizes... And no mention of 3D Piranha.

The 83rd Annual Academy Awards will be held on 27 February 27, with James Franco and Anne Hathaway hosting. The former has got a nomination too, good for him! • Man howcome the Kings Speech has done so well, I honestly just didn't 'get it', I thought Firth should of won for A Single Man back in the day, I enjoyed Black Swan, Tron, The Fighter and True Grit remake though.

  • Am I the only woman who thinks that Colin Firth reminds you of the boy at school no one liked? No one liked me at school either but then I'm not up for an Oscar and I don't have women falling at my feet.

  • Blimey, all that scrolling has given my finger a bicep. Have they added extra categories? Frankly who cares? No disrespect to the techies but all we want are bad outfits, bad speeches and a host off his tits on WKD and coke(ain).

  • Without meaning to sound like a bore, Daft Punk should be up for the score for TRON, it's cracking.
