Patrick Swayze has died after a long battle with Pancreatic cancer. He was aged 57 and was pretty damn cool.

His publicist Annette Wolf gave a short statement:

"Patrick Swayze passed away peacefully today with family at his side after facing the challenges of his illness for the last 20 months,"

Patrick admitted in January  that he might only have two years to live, but denied he was near death.

He said he was scared "scared" and "going through hell".

"Am I dying? Am I giving up? Am I on my death bed? Am I saying goodbye to people? No way,".

"I keep dreaming of a future, a future with a long and healthy life, not lived in the shadow of cancer but in the light,"

All day people will blather on about Dirty Dancing and Ghost and you won't be able to move without hearing 'She's Like The Wind' - which is fine if you are on your period - but his two finest moments were without a doubt 'Point Break' and 'Roadhouse'. This is not open to debate.

Roadhouse:

and you're going to get sent this anyway, so we may as well show you. Guilty laughs doesn't make you bad.

RIP Patrick Swayze.
