Now he's acquired his new nickname in the press (i.e. The Daily Mail) as 'controversial comedian Ricky Gervais', controversial comedian Ricky Gervais has got to uphold a certain amount of controversy at every event he attends - whether it be using a baby as a ping pong ball, or kicking the Easter Bunny in the balls. Last night his controversial action of choice was to befriend a hobo and flick the Vs at the world. BURN THE WITCH!

But while controversial comedian Ricky Gervais was throwing about offensive gestures left, right and centre, there was an onslaught of other, uncontroversial celebrities onto the streets of London last night too. Literally floods of famous people doing absolutely nothing of interest.

Well, that's not strictly true. Christina Hendricks was in town. And unless you are blind or asexual, then she is always of interest.

Meanwhile, other guests at the pre Bafta party (any fucking excuse, eh?) included our long-lost TV star, Cat Deeley (R.I.P. SM:TV); twelve year-old in his Dad's suit, Rupert Grint; cradle-snatcher Sam Taylor-Wood and toy-boy, Aaron Johnson; soon-to-be Oscar winner, Colin Firth; Pop Idol turned professional actor, Will Young; the apparently fashionable, Vivienne Westwood and hundred-time grim reaper murder-attempt survivor, Neve Campbell.
