Both Robin Wright Penn and Sean Penn had previously filed for divorce three times in the last few, with Penn filing for a legal separation earlier this year only to later withdraw it and claim it was "an arrogant mistake".
The couple, who got together in 1989 and married in 1996, had recently got back together but now Wright Penn has announced:
I hit that crossroad a while ago. For Robin (she gestured toward herself), the 'I know what I don't want' was flashing neon lights. I have no regrets. I, we, have two amazing children we raised together.
They have a 16-year-old son Hopper Jack (can you guess which two actors he was named after?) and an 18-year-old daughter Dylan Frances.
So long, true love..

Sean Penn has at least been a refreshing change from all the Hollywood arslikhan that permeates LA - and he did get rid of the tuneless, gaptoothed collector of brown children.
Shame, really - an underrated actor of some worth, glad he got the oscar last time round. He is a bit fucking fruitloop though....
His performances for me - will never eclipse those of his brother Christopher as Travis Brickley in the Best of the Best movies.
Man he was one of my favorite actors back in the 90's and earlier, to bad all these celebrities are getting divorced not even tony soprano could stop divorce from going down
