Following yesterday's sentencing, Lil Wayne ((real name Dwayne Carter) has reportedly just arrived at Rikers Island in New York City, where he is to serve a one-year jail sentence for gun possession charge stemming from an incident in 2007.

Speaking to AP, the rapper's lawyer said:

"He knew what he had to do, and he's doing it."

The 28-year-old has reportedly been placed in protective custody away from other inmates, but vows to keep writing music, which definitely worked for Gil Scott-Heron... and hopefully he'll have a picture of Peaches Geldof, a needle and biro so he can carry on with his body art too.
