Amy Winehouse has died. The death has been confirmed on news desks for national newspapers and people on Twitter report seeing ambulances and police outside her house but as yet no statement has been made or cause of death announced, but there are strong rumours that this was the result of a drugs overdose.

Ambulances arrived at her Camden flat at 3:45pm but were unable to save her.

The police siad:

"On arrival, officers found the body of a 27-year-old female who was pronounced dead at the scene,"

Whilst her death is being classed as unexplained, sources suggest that this was the result of an overdose.

We look back on Amy Winehouse's life here.

  • I'm shocked and saddened. Can't quite believe it in fact. What a massive waste. One can say that it was bound to happen etc. But I honestly hoped there were enough people around her to prevent this. Poor cow.

  • I remember when I bought Back to Black the woman behind the counter said it was the best record she'd ever heard. After a day I agreed with her, and still do. What a shame, and what a waste.
