Is that woman wearing a lobster? Is that woman wearing a lobster?

What's the story?

The music industry seems to be in real bad shape at the moment. Everything is super duper fucked up, and with so many musicians and big fat cat label bosses complaining about how unfair it is that nobody liked minidisc very much*, it doesn't seem like anyone's looking at the industry as a whole. Except Noel. Noel's looking at it as a whole. Noel's goal is to control the soul of the industry as a whole.

Speaking to NME, Noel explained why things were better before. It turns out it was because they made sense. We agree.

"It's fucked now. Some of us are old enough to remember Top Of The Pops and The Chart Show. If you headlined Top Of The Pops you were fucking number one and the world was alright and everyone knew their place.

"The charts are insane at the moment, the way people sell music is insane. (My new single) is out, but it's not actually out. You can buy it but you can't buy it. It's at Number 20 in the charts but it's not actually been released. I don't understand why. (Someone told me) 'We release it two weeks after its been released now'. Well, who is 'we'? And why do 'we' do that? It doesn't make any sense to me."

LIAM, LIAM, LIAM, LIAM ARE YOU OK? LIAM. LIAM. CAN YOU HEAR US, LIAM? LIAM. WHAT'S GOING ON? SOMEBODY CHECK LIAM. HE'S NOT SAID ANYTHING FOR WEEKS. LIAM. COME BACK TO US.

So anyway, aside from Liam's strange absence, point well made Noel. Everything in the musical world really has just gone to hell in a handbasket recently. The Saturdays? They would barely have classified as fun enough to call themselves The Monday Mornings back in the day. Shameful and deceitful.

*We loved them. You could draw little designs on the labels and carry them around like tapes. The coolest kids in school. That's what we were.

  • Liam's larging it up in Q at the mo plugging Pretty Green and slating his brother. As for the millionaire Noel, when his ditties were selling, he didn't say shit about the industry. He lapped it up and trousered the proceeds. He does make a valid point. There are way too many mediums and the sewage that flows through them reduces them to nothing. They're basically fillers for ads now. But 'old skool' crooners like Noel need to decide if it's chart positions that thrills them the most or the music.
