Won't ever be as good as Martine McCutcheon's

Tess Daly's last writing attempt was with non-fiction title The Baby Diaries, which made it to number 351 in the book chart, languishing somewhere behind Linda Bellingham's autobiography, the 101 One-Pot Dishes cookbook and Rhian Sugden's mobile phone… Onwards and upwards, though and the model-turned-presenter who was recently betrayed has turned her hand to fiction, writing a novel about a model-turned-presenter who gets betrayed. Eh, hang on….

Calm down, Vernon, The Camera Never Lies is ACTUALLY the story of a lady called Tess Daly Britt Baxter "who lands the job of a lifetime as a presenter on a TV show called LA Pool Party Rise and Shine. Soon the press and the public can't get enough of her. Tess Britt is 'the next big thing'. But then a story about sexting breaks. Tess Britt has been betrayed. And she no longer knows who she can trust. The Camera Never Lies will keep you hooked as Tess's Britt’s funny, poignant and all-too-believable story plays out against a backdrop of glamour, ambition and deception."

Wow, she must have an incredible imagination to come up with that.

Anyway, because it's been a hard week and we could all do with a Jackanory moment, let's kick back with Martine McCutcheon's The Mistress

You've got some seriously tough competition, Daly.

The Camera Never Lies (£12.99) is released 13th October 2011 (Hodder & Stoughton Hardback)
