Grim? Sure.

If you put the word 'teen' in front of anything good it immediately becomes bad. Teen pregnancy, teen marriage, teen mum, teen drinking, teen sex, teen moneymaking scheme, teen porn, teen lottery win and amazing teen tits are all great examples of how teenagers ruin everything.

Of course that doesn't apply to the Radio 1 Teen Awards. These awards are given to only the most deserving recipients and are chosen by only the brightest teenagers. The kind of teenagers that all other teenagers are jealous of because they're just so knowledgeable about modern culture, genuinely the kind of people that wouldn't be out of place on some late night BBC 3 show called Night Owls, hosted by Mark Kermode with Tracey Emin as the main guest. Maybe even Germaine Greer reading poetry or something.

Definitely not the kind of teenagers that drink WKD Blue on the bus, urinate on babies and push bins up against the walls of retirement homes before setting them alight though. No, that's the Teen Choice Awards. Totally different crowd.

Anyway, the winners were:
Best British Album: Olly Murs - Olly Murs
Best British Music Act: The Wanted
Teen Hero: Alec Martin, Pippa Haines and Charlie Ward
Best British Young Sports Star: Tom Daley
Best British Actor: Rupert Grint
Best British Single: Ed Sheeran - The A Team
Best British TV Show: The Inbetweeners

See? Not a bad choice among them. Not a single one. Nope.

Anyway, here, have a look at our gallery to see who actually came to the awards. It's a gift for you, from us. Just look at Mollie King and Nick Grimshaw for example, don't they genuinely look like their pictures have been digitally altered to hilariously different scales? That's teen comedy. Or teen fashion.

And this is teen writing, hopefully with teen spelling and teen grammar. You guys are all teens too.

  • Best British Album was won by Olly Murs? Well if the young people say so. All I'll say is that China can ease up on their focus on academia - they've got nothing to fear from our youngsters in the West. I mean Olly Murs? Jesus.
