"Meatball"

Midget wrestling is apparently more than just a mid-season special on Jerry Springer and the best wedding present ever. It's an actual sport with actual stars. Except it's called Micro Wrestling not midget wrestling, and (slightly disappointingly) it doesn't take place in a paddling pool full of custard. Blah blah blah, should call them little people not midgets, blah blah blah, 'midgetism' isn't a disease, blah blah blah.

Not that these things bother Hulk Hogan. In fact, there's only two things that concern Hulkamania in this life and that's the slightly suspect relationship he has with his daughter and wrestling, on any scale. Which is why he's launched a new programme called Hulk Hogan’s Micro Championship Wrestling, in which he tries to raise the profile of a group of Florida based 'little wrestlers'.

Speaking to HuffPo, Hulk had this to say about midgets and car doors:

“These guys are great performers in the ring, but then you see them struggling to open a car door.”

“We get to see how they handle normal-sized doors and cars, as well as watching them deal with their wives or helping their kids doing their homework,”

However, micro wrestler and star of the show Demo was a little more forthcoming about the reasons behind the programme:

“This show is portraying us as individual humans. This is important, because most people think people like us are either disabled or leprechauns. We’re out to show people we are athletes.”

“Many people go a lifetime without every seeing a little person. We’re not a circus act though. We want people to say, ‘Holy s–t! It’s badass!’”

“The term ‘midget’ carries a lot of weight. ‘Little People Wresting’ sounds stupid and it’s three words instead of two.”

Anyway, the video below is the trailer for the show, while the video above is of two of the show's stars in action, Meatball and Blixx, in an unrelated event.

'Meatball'. Amazing.
