What's black and white and all over red (carpet)?

Following last year's British Arse Flashing Tits Awards, we initially felt a little let down by this year's incredibly monochrome red carpet efforts at the BAFTAs. No red sateen, just Edith Bowman dressed as Little Bo Peep. Still, what it lacked in LOLs, it made up for in style. Understated style.

Naturally, Michelle Williams wins best dressed just for turning up in freakin' H&M. That's right, she took to the high street for her gown, although don't expect to find it yourself since it was specially designed, along with her very appropriate Arthur Miller clutch. Interestingly, high street Fearne Cotton wore Moschino. The world's gone topsy-turvy  mad!

Also staying on a European tip, we have Melissa George in a dramatic Victoria Beckham gown. Equally eye-catching, we have Jessica Chastain in silver Oscar de la Renta, while Christina Ricci wore a golden Givenchy gown that might've just fitted over one of Christina Hendricks' breasts (she was lovely in Vivienne Westwood, FYI).

Elsewhere, we have Penelope Cruz in classic Armani Prive, Tilda Swinton in a surprisingly wearable Celine number, Jessica Findlay Brown in a lovely Amish dress and of course Edith Bo Peep. She's not so much lost her sheep as her sense of style. Should've gone to H&M.
