Less grotto, more grotty

Barneys is a brilliant department store that, as well as having a lovely selection of stock, also has nice looking staff and toilets. It's everything Mary Portas could dream of, except obviously that part where Lady Gaga ruins Christmas by trying to reinvent it as a Tim Burton doodle...

As America warms up the deep fat fryer for Thursday's Thankgiving feast and prepares to spend all of Friday on the toilet or shopping, Lady Gaga opened the Barneys New York Christmas shop, except it's called Gaga's Workshop, because what's more festive than a desperate woman on the verge of losing all sense of relevance?

Talking about it to WWD, she said:

"We tried to bridge the spirit of Madison Avenue with the spirit of downtown New York pop punk culture and create a space that had a range of prices — some very affordable gifts and some gifts that were more expensive."

*rolls eyes*

Oi, Barneys, stop mucking about with Gaga and get on with opening a store in London!

In the meantime, Liberty has its 20 per cent off customer shopping event 1-4 December. Happy Christmas indeed!
